Wanting to quit drinking alcohol is just the first step to being sober. Quitting alcohol is something that every alcoholic wants to do. But, not all of them have the power to change themselves. It might seem hard but a lot of people were able to beat the pull of alcohol addiction. Being an alcoholic can leave a person without a home, without a job and without a family.

Or are you an alcohol addict who drinks every night with buddies. Knowing your kind of drinking moments will allow you to get out of such instances that includes alcohol.

Write down why drinking is not good. Your health should also be given a thought. Give consideration also to what it can do for your family. Reading these reasons each day will give you more strength to follow through with quitting.

Remind yourself all the good that has happened since you quit and do this every day. Think of the steps that got you to where you are and the positive changes that happened.

It is also a must to remember the bad things. Remember how alcohol almost or has destroyed your life before. Everyday, remember how bad it feels being an alcoholic. Choose who you hang out with and make sure that they are also living a life free from alcohol.

Try out doing other things. Having something else to replace the drinking sessions helps. It is much better to exercise or spend time with your family rather than going out for drinks. Find the time to know yourself more and the things that make you happy.
